Jane Jacobs: Devoted to fighting absurdities, too

“I resented that I had to stop and devote myself to fighting what was basically an absurdity that had been foisted on me and my neighbours.”

We know the feeling, Jane. In our case, in the City of Dartmouth, we fight tirelessly and with devotion against an absurdity – #illegitimateHRM – that has similarly been foisted upon us and our neighbors.

We resent the Province of Nova Scotia and we realize Province house is no stranger to actions rooted in absurdity – but we love our city and our people, our hometown.

We will never recognize as democratic, legal or constitutional, a democratically elected level of government being dissolved without a plebiscite and without careful thought and discussion about alternatives.

We will never recognize as democratic, legal or constitutional, an amalgamated show government created by fiat, installed by fiat, and used to politically impose, segregate and Gerrymander from a centrally controlled bureaucracy.
